Lublin University of Technology and its Technology Transfer Center would like to offer solutions in the field of energy efficiency in buildings, renewable energy in buildings and smart systems for buildings. We are interested in meeting partners to discuss potential licencing agreements and adaptation of solutions to particular needs. In addition, we are open to joint research projects.
Please see our cooperation profiles for more details on solutions we would like to offer. Several of these already have or will soon have working prototypes (to be developed until August 2015) so that potential partners can evaluate the solution independently.

        Horizontal heat-pipe heat exchanger

        A scientist from Lublin University of Technology has developed and patented a horizontal heat-pipe heat exchanger. The heat exchanger can be used in cogenerative configuration. The received heat can be used to partly power e.g. a power generator in order to reduce fuel consumption, and partly to heat a room/ hall/ production facilities, etc.
        The horizontal heat-pipe exchanger is cheaper to make when compared with traditional heat-pipe exchangers and offers easier cleaning access.
        An earlier version of the heat-pipe exchanger was tested in a local spa complex where it exhibited 85-90% heat reception capacity.
        Currently, an improved version of the exchanger is being developed by the scientist. We have technical documentation available. The prototype will be available for demonstration in August 2015.

        Personal ventilation system to be applied in offices, call-centers, schools, etc.

        A scientist from Lublin University of Technology has developed a system for personal ventilation to be applied in e.g. offices/ large space offices, call-centers, schools, etc.
        Such a system supplies fresh outside air directly to a user's breathing space. Owing to filtration and temperature control systems built into the solution the air quality is several times higher than in case of traditional HVAC systems. In addition, users can set a desired fan direction and air speed which enables them to adjust the microclimate according to their individual preferences.
        As far as advantages of such a system are concerned, owing to the elimination of the sick building syndrome, the quality and efficiency of work are improved. Moreover, the system offers energy reduction when compared with standard ventilation systems.

        The issue of personal ventilation was tackled by the scientist from several angles. Numerous problems were raised regarding traditional ventilation systems:
        - changing the set temperature at one workstation influences the air stream at other workstations,
        - no relationship between in-blown air and preferences of individual users,
        - no possibility of setting the temperature by individual users.
        In addition, in current systems of personal ventilation, pattern of in-blown air is irregular.

        To remedy the above problems, the scientist designed a model of a personal ventilator in Autodesk Simulation. Several air-blow patterns were analysed and the one with the most regular air-blow pattern was selected. Next, a prototype of the ventilator was made and labtested. The tests confirmed the results obtained in Autodesk Simulation.
        The scientist developed further 10 ventilators. At present, these ventilators are being tested in the offices of the university. User opinions and work parameters are collected in order to introduce required changes.

        A prototype door lock controlled via a mobile phone

        A scientist from Lublin University of Technology has developed and patented a prototype of a door lock which can be controlled via a mobile phone.
        The idea behind the design is to eliminate the necessity of possessing several keys to open several locks. The solution proposed by the inventor allows the locks to be operated via IrDa, Bluetooth and even GSM protocols, all depending on the user. The design of the door lock prevents the lock to be force-opened by applying force to the door-handle integrated with the lock.

        The solution can be applied in cases where access must be monitored, restricted and controlled e.g. in banks, hotels, etc.

        The solution was exhibited during an international inventions fair in Gdańsk, Poland in 2014 and received an award there.

        The scientist is able to adapt the solution to a particular need of the client.

        A novel water tank with variable water volume capacity for solar installation along with control sys

        Scientists from Lublin University of Technology developed and patented a novel construction of a water tank used in solar installations. The construction of the tank allows for a variable water volume to be heated. In this way, if solar conditions are favourable full water tank volume may be heated to a desired temperature. In case of shortage of sun or insufficient intensity, the tank may change its nominal volume and instead of the full tank, the user can obtain e.g. half of the volume with the same desired temperature.
        So far the following steps have been taken:
        - water tank with variable water volume has been designed and patented,
        - a method of energy control (i.e. charging and discharging the tank) was designed,
        - comparative analyses of the current solution and traditional ones were made by means of Matlab/Simulink mathematical models. Analyses were carried out on the basis of real (historical) weather data for Lublin region (max. insolation 1050kW/m2).

        At the moment, a prototype installation utilising the variable volume water tank is being developed by the scientists. The prototype will be available for demonstration in August 2015 the latest.
